Lunch and Learn Monthly Sessions

�㽶��ƵHR leads monthly sessions providing updates to supervisors and an opportunity to directly ask questions of �㽶��ƵHR leadership.

�㽶��Ƶemployees indicated the importance of open and honest two-way communication, as well as the ability to share opinions candidly without judgment or retaliation. The Respectful Communication in the Workplace collection explores ways to facilitate and engage in safe and authentic communication by exploring interpersonal skills, respect, practicing positive communication, and overcoming the fear of speaking up. Consider completing these courses individually or as a team.

Performance Center

The Performance Center features the Performance Evaluation Tool and Performance Management Resources.

This training includes a step-by-step tutorial on completing evaluations through MyUA, preparation for evaluations, the supervisor and employee's roles and who to contact for questions or issues will also be covered. 

This resource is a quick guide for proactive performance management on approaching coaching conversations, identifying strengths and discussing development, providing constructive criticism, along with examples of how to start these conversations. Contact �㽶��ƵLabor and Employee Relations in advance of these discussions for additional guidance and support. This resource is also available in the My�㽶��ƵPerformance Evaluation Training session listed within this section. 

This collection of courses offers supervisors skills needed for managing remote/ hybrid employees, shares tips for getting results at a distance—including how to provide remote coaching and feedback—as well as building trust, setting reasonable boundaries as a long-distance leader, engaging employees, and more.

Giving effective feedback is difficult. Most people avoid opportunities to give constructive feedback and give infrequent and often unhelpful positive feedback. This session addresses strategies on how to deliver effective feedback at work or at home. The training will offer multiple examples and provide participants with ample practice to learn how to give feedback that helps individuals improve performance.

This course walks you through bottom-up, zero-based, commit, and stretch goals. Use SMART goals to change behaviors, build new skills among employees, make actionable goals, create a comprehensive plan for setting and implementing goals, and ways to deal with challenges such as conflicting goals.

 

 

As a manager, you want to set your employees up for success by helping them create SMART goals that align with the needs of your program and the skills the employee has and needs to develop. In this short course, participants will focus on the manager’s role in goal setting and performance management. Offboarding Employees

    This page outlines how to submit an intent to separate from the university, benefits considerations, and information for supervisors.
    
  • Supervisor Offboarding Responsibilities
    Whether an employee is leaving the university or transferring to another internal role, supervisors must complete the following actions to ensure a smooth and secure transition.  Prompt, thorough offboarding protects sensitive information, supports workforce planning, and contributes to a professional and respectful transition for the departing or transferring employee. 
    

For All Separations or Transfers 

• Collect all university-issued property, including but not limited to: 

• Office or building keys 

• Computers, laptops, mobile devices 

• ProCards and Travel Cards 

• Update or remove system and security access based on the employee’s role change or departure. 

• Request the employee transfers ownership for items such as files, calendars, events, Zoom (e.g., training/ recordings), etc.  

Additional Items For Employees Completely Separating from UA 

• Security Coordinators will receive an automated notification once the employee’s position is formally ended in the Banner system. 

• This initiates action to disable or remove user access across systems (email, databases, etc.).  

• Timely notification to your department's HR Coordinator of the separation is essential for initiating these actions. 

• Provide employees with benefits offboarding webpage and direct them to the benefits office for questions. 

For Employees Transferring Within UA 

• Automated access removal is NOT triggered for internal transfers. You must manually notify: 

• Your �㽶��ƵSecurity Coordinator 

• Your HR Coordinator 

• This ensures proper access changes and avoids inappropriate system privileges from carrying over.
  

Note: Always consult with your HR Coordinator for guidance on the specific steps and timelines related to your unit’s offboarding procedures.

Family Medical Leave (self-paced)

This training provides information on what Family Medical Leave (FML) is, eligibility, amount of leave allotted, the process for requesting FML, responsibilities of the employee and supervisor, mechanisms that can be used to record leave, as well as the communications both the employee and supervisor can expect.

This training is designed to help better understand the employee lifecycle, and to be able to assist new employees as they onboard. 

This training is designed to help better understand employee leaves and how they interact: Family Medical Leave (FML), Leave Share, Parental Leave, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Short-term Disability (STD), and Long-term Disability (LTD). Learning outcomes will result in participants having a broad understanding of the leaves and protections available to �㽶��Ƶemployees, an understanding of where to direct employees for additional assistance, and where resources can be located on the benefits website.
